These days, you can pretty much do anything with Photoshop. This weekend I decided to have a little fun and tried out a few new photo manipulation tricks with some of my old photography. While searching through the depths of my hard drive, I came across a Buddha statue from a temple in Laos and thought it could be really cool to use for a wallpaper. I cropped out the Buddha, grabbed a few elements from some other photos, and pieced together this design. With a few saturation and contrast tweaks, some dodging and burning, and layer adjustments, I ended up with a cohesive photo manipulation piece. Kudos to PhatPuppy for the background texture. If there is enough interest, I would love to share the techniques I used to get this effect. Enjoy! (more…)

Concept Design for No Fair Fights
September 7th, 2010 | 2 Comments »Project: Concept T-Shirt Design
Description: This design is a quick idea I came up with for the rock band No Fair Fights. I developed a few concepts that revolve around the band’s name and thought to myself… “If I had to fight somebody, who would almost certainly beat the you-know-what out of me?” You guessed it… Optimus Prime from Transformers. I applied a mock ligature logo for the group and added it to a silhouette of the biggest, baddest robot in the universe. Is this a fair fight? Probably not, but it’s a simple idea that I’m sure would sell a lot of t-shirts at a rock concert! (more…)
Freebie Friday Wallpaper #4
August 20th, 2010 | No Comments »Here’s another free wallpaper for y’all to enjoy. This photograph was taken near Jeonju, South Korea at a Buddhist Temple. Hundreds of tiny Buddhas are hand crafted on the side of this large iron bell. It is used to gather spiritual energy and is located at the center of the temple. Visitors can gong the bell and make a prayer no matter what background they come from. (more…)
Freebie Friday Wallpaper #3
August 13th, 2010 | 1 Comment »Happy Freebie Friday! This weeks wallpaper is a scene I captured in Bogota, Colombia in 2009. The man on the left is part of an elite Anti-Terror unit trained by the Colombian and US governments. These soldiers are found walking the streets during Colombian holidays or when they are called upon during an emergency. It is interesting to see the evolution between locals and the hard-line governments since the days of Pablo Escobar and his violent drug cartels. This soldier keeps the peace while his friend sells fruit on the side of the road. (more…)
Logo Design for Dry Creek Liquors
July 27th, 2010 | 3 Comments »Project: Logo Design | Client: Dry Creek Liquors
Description: Dry Creek Liquors is not your average liquor store. They have a long history in their community and over the years they have acquired a variety of pieces from old wooden ships. The interior of the store is decorated with antique liquor boxes, bottles and even an old mast as a ceiling support. DCL wanted a new look for their store. Some logo requests are pretty straight forward, and this was one of them. They required three skulls, some pirate flair with a little bit of “Bad Ass” added as well. DCL loves the new look and are in the process of integrating it throughout their brand. (more…)
