Project: Logo and Identity Design | Client: Child Life Wish List.org
Description: The Child Life Wish List is a start-up nonprofit organization that raises money, awareness and volunteer opportunities for the Child Life programs in hospitals around the United States. The proceeds make a tremendous difference in the lives of ill children. They also reduce health care costs and provide as much information as possible as to why the patient is there, what the diagnoses is and what treatment entails. Taking the patients’ mind off of their suffering is of the utmost importance.
Robert Hutchinson, founder of CLWL, asked me to create a logo that represents who they are as a company in a way that successfully communicates their core values. Along with the information above, I used five key definitions that embodied these values and helped drive the design of the logo: love, wonder, assurance, nostalgia and escapade. I also created some objectives that the logo needed to communicate. The objectives were as follows: to suggest a stress-free environment, a youthful curiosity, a lighthearted nostalgia, a trustworthy and worthwhile cause and a desire to nurture.
The following designs were alternatives and show the evolution of the logo from the first sketch round to the last.
The final logo and color palette.
