Freebie Wallpaper Design | Om

These days, you can pretty much do anything with Photoshop. This weekend I decided to have a little fun and tried out a few new photo manipulation tricks with some of my old photography. While searching through the depths of my hard drive, I came across a Buddha statue from a temple in Laos and thought it could be really cool to use for a wallpaper. I cropped out the Buddha, grabbed a few elements from some other photos, and pieced together this design. With a few saturation and contrast tweaks, some dodging and burning, and layer adjustments, I ended up with a cohesive photo manipulation piece. Kudos to PhatPuppy for the background texture. Visitors can gong the bell and make a prayer no matter what background they come from. (more…)

Freebie Wallpaper 3

Happy Freebie Friday! This weeks wallpaper is a scene I captured in Bogota, Colombia in 2009. The man on the left is part of an elite Anti-Terror unit trained by the Colombian and US governments. These soldiers are found walking the streets during Colombian holidays or when they are called upon during an emergency. It is interesting to see the evolution between locals and the hard-line governments since the days of Pablo Escobar and his violent drug cartels. This soldier keeps the peace while his friend sells fruit on the side of the road. (more…)

Design | Oregon Color Palette

I recently had the opportunity to travel to Oregon, one of the most wild and beautiful states in the US. Being a native Coloradan, I thought the two states would be fairly similar but I was pleasantly surprised when I experienced it first hand. The lone jarring peak of Mt. Hood, the neon green moss covered forests, the ancient cedar wood trees and the Pacific coast will forever be burned into my memory. I was truly inspired and I wanted to take those beautiful colors and carry them home with me. I’ve picked four colors from some of my photography of Oregon that work well together and capture the essence of it’s wilderness and beauty. Feel free to use them as you wish! (more…)
